'Marston Walker' is a new publishing enterprise, but one from old stock in the angling world. Marstons have been involved in publishing since the mid-nineteenth century, including the widely respected Fishing Gazette from 1878 until 1962. As well as publishing other angling titles, relationships were nurtured and communications about all things angling were shared throughout the world, always mindful of conservation.
This rich heritage is combined with Richard Walker’s catalogue of work, spanning his lifetime as an angler and his literary contribution that encouraged others to fish, with practical advice, techniques, designs, original thinking and know-how. Dick wrote for many publications, angling and mainstream, including a weekly column for the Angling Times which ran for 30 years.
Marston Walker is realised in the form of Patricia Marston Walker, with her background and experience of running the ‘FG’; and her son Robert, who is charged with preserving the past, connecting its relevance to the present and for future generations.
